Inception and Incorporation
The idea for the hospital was conceived in 1990 and was formally incorporated in the same year. The hospital started its journey as a multispecialty and trauma center in Kasaragod district, officially functioning in 1994 with 4 floors and 35 beds. Initially established as a Private Limited Company named Carewell Hospital and Research Centre Private Limited, Carewell Hospital emerged as a significant healthcare unit.

Early Years and Departmental Development
From 1994 to 2001, Carewell Hospital evolved into a fully-fledged multi-specialty institution with 150 beds. During this period, various departments were added, including General Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Radiology, and Dermatology. The hospital attracted a positive response, prompting the need for expansion and enhancement.

Expansion and Facility Upgrade
Responding to the positive reception and growing demand, the hospital expanded by adding two more floors in 2002. This upgrade transformed Carewell Hospital into a well-equipped multi-specialty healthcare provider, catering to the evolving medical needs of the community.

Modernization and Infrastructure Revitalization
Since 2020, Carewell Hospital has been committed to modernizing its services by introducing new equipment and upgrading its physical infrastructure. A significant milestone was achieved with the complete overhaul of the Operation Theatre complex and ICU, transforming them into state-of-the-art facilities. The modular Operation Theatre complex and ICU now encompass Medical, Coronary care, and Surgical ICU with HEPA filters and AHU.

The hospital boasts the top sewage treatment facility in the state, earning recognition for its pollution control measures.
